Brain Facts #10 – NEWS: ‘Fear of Flying’ Phobia Update

Fear of Flying

Eiffel Tower Paris France

(Sorry, We were taking a picture of an airplane, but it flew behind the Eiffel Tower.)

FYI: Aviophobia or Aviatophobia – The fear of flying

A phobia can be based upon rational and irrational fear.

A classic case of a phobia that has intrinsic value for each side is the Fear of Flying.

Logically, it is hard for the untrained person to believe that a big piece of metal flying through the air, and against the pull of gravity, would have any chance of landing safely. However, this feat has been accomplished numerous times, and has a high reliability that you will wind up safely at your destination.

Even airplane pilots make a few jokes about it:  “Landing a plane is a controlled crash” paints a picture of the stresses the plane undergoes at the most critical point of its operation.

Recent research has shown there may be physiological reasons to consider as well.

Deep vein thrombosis is a regular worry now amongst airline passengers, which is a clotting of blood mostly in the legs due to sitting for long times on flights. But this can mostly be countered by compression stockings, aspirin, and walking around.

Changes in the brain are not as apparent, but can still be felt. Some results can be quite severe. Frequent jet lag produces stress-induced hormones that can result in memory loss and brain damage. Other stress related events around travel can add to an already burdened mental process and cause further problems.

So, the next time you travel to Paris, and forget Iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, you may be suffering from this malady.

Mesmerized by the Headlights of Oncoming Traffic?

Mesmerized …

Mesmerized

Mesmerized

(We like the picture of the deer better than a black and white picture of ‘ol Franz Mesmer.)

In honor of Franz Anton Mesmer (1734-1815), a German Physician and an ICON of a bygone era. Mesmer theorized a natural energetic transference that occurred between all animated and inanimate objects that he called “Animal Magnetism.” Along with his theory, Mesmer lives on in the state of being that bears his name, “mesmerized.” (One badge of great honor is to have one’s name become a part of the general vocabulary.)

Are you Completely Mesmerized?

If you have ever experienced the feeling you were the “deer caught in the headlights of oncoming traffic, as if you are about to be run over, you have.

Decisions, Decisions

Do you make important decisions readily? Or do you resort to flipping a coin? Do you procrastinate while vainly hoping that the decision will make itself and the problem will just go away? As a procrastinator, you will often surprise yourself by the feeling of feeling that you experience by simply making a decision.

Solving Problems

On the other hand, sometimes what looks like procrastination is actually constructive. If you have a big problem that prevents you from making progress in other areas of your life, one of the best ways to break the logjam is to sleep on it!

Sleeping on a problem works. Even in the absence of meditation or other mental disciplines, sleep frees your mind to find solutions that evade your waking mind.

Your mind has vast stores of information. But during the day, your conscious mind crowds out much of that storehouse of information, especially when your stress levels are high. At night, when your mind is quiet, your mind can devote its entire energy to sorting through your challenges. This is why many times you wake up with clear solutions to problems that you had wrestled with for the day before.

So, the next time you feel like a deer caught in the headlights, you will know exactly what to do. Go to sleep!
“No decision is too great or too small. They All affect your path through life.”

Money and Wealth Creation: Use Your Mind

Mind Discipline

Money and Wealth

Many people are convinced – consciously or subconsciously – that accumulating great wealth is impossible. But this is simply not true. Your mind is the only impediment to your goals of wealth. But help is on the way. I am here to teach you how to focus your thoughts on visualizing your goals.

A Poverty Mentality is Your Enemy to Wealth

At some point in your life, you internalized the belief that money and wealth would always remain beyond your reach. To become successful, you must change the way you think and the way your mind works. But before you can change the way your mind works, you must understand the process.

Your mind has two major parts – the conscious mind that deals with the everyday and the subconscious mind, which is where our hopes and dreams reside. Your subconscious mind controls your likes and dislikes as well as how we deal with circumstances and events in our lives – including how you react to money and wealth. The subconscious mind stores your likes and dislikes, your hopes and your dreams, and how you react to things – including money and wealth.

Develop Mental Discipline

You can do affirmations for money and wealth all day long, but without overcoming your mind’s subconscious preconditioning, your efforts will only produce frustration. You must learn Brain Management and mental discipline to train your subconscious to focus on your highest goals so that you can achieve them. By exercising your brain using Mental Photography techniques will allow you to obtain the greatest type of wealth, personal contentment and satisfaction.
