The Photographic Memory :: Myth, Legend, Fact or Fiction

The Photographic Memory

the Truth is Out There…

Brain Mind Photographic Eidetic Memory

What exactly is the “photographic memory”?

The elusive photographic memory; ever experienced it? Chances are you may have come across it in grandiose Hollywood films and television shows. Furthermore, the photographic memory is expressed in such a way that it seems both superhuman and abnormal!

The apex of the photographic memory experience has been portrayed accurately by characters such as:

  • Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory”
  • Will Hunting from Good Will Hunting
  • Mike Ross from Suits

…and many more

You know, writers may be writing for fiction but they are heavily influenced by real life events that shape their work. They also have the power to release material that is inaccurate; only to be aired. Not only is the photographic memory, itself, is one of those real life events its also one of those inaccuracies that writers write about!

Believe it or not….The phenomenon that looks to good to be true…is indeed true. Even worst, the name ‘photographic’ itself is wrong. At best, it’s inaccurate, and at worst it is deceptive.

The actual, technical and medical term for it is…the Eidetic Memory.

Photographic Memory vs. Eidetic Memory

Despite two different names, if there is a correct term for this real and amazing memory then why on earth is it expressed wrong?

The answer lies with people’s personal experiences with visual learning, i.e. seeing and absorbing information via their eyes. Considering that permanent and verbatim recall of information is a classic function of eidetic memory, the ‘photographic’ metaphor was created as to identify with that type of flawless recall and the name stuck.

In both real and scientific terms, the eidetic memory does not rely upon visual input but uses the remaining senses of the human body as well.

Therefore the term ‘photographic’ is used interchangeably but loosely.

The Scientific view?

The typical view in mainstream science is that it does not exist at all and it is a myth. Take for example, Joshua Foer’s article in the magazine, Slate, he promotes the myth theory by downplaying past examples of people but without citing any evidence that that perpetuates his views. (slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2006/04/kaavya_syndrome.2.html)

One of those is exceptional people is Stephen Wiltshire, an autistic artist  with a vivid photographic memory, that accurately draws stunning city landscapes purely from memory alone. The accuracy in his illustrations is flawless he has been awarded an MBE for his works. (dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1223790/Autistic-artist-draws-18ft-picture-New-York-skyline-memory.html)

Such feats do not lie only with Autism. Recently, an ordinary policeman featured on the news used his ‘photographic’ memory to identify and capture hundreds of criminals over the last five years purely from memorizing them from faces on wanted posters. (huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/29/andy-pope-photographic-memory-pcso_n_3519213.html)

Many stories like those above provide a basis that the eidetic memory does indeed exist, contradicting many of the standard scientific views.

Psychologists wrestle with this subject in the laboratory and have established the existence of Eidetic Imagery (EI), in which they conclude that some people, mainly children, have this ability. The after-image of something they have seen is embedded, or retained, with vivid detail like an image in their minds. (theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/jan/14/truth-about-memories-jarrett)

You have this power too

Everybody of all ages and abilities has access to this extraordinary memory. Perhaps it is not as rare as you, or I, have been led to believe.

Let me briefly tell you a story that occurred about a month ago. A customer came in to my work and I was talking about the photographic memory. She overheard me and commented about recall ability and reading speed of her daughter-in-law and how she “completes degree after degree!” I was astonished!

Most people would say “Well that’s OK for her. But I can’t do it, it is impossible!” The good news is we all have this ability and therefore we can all tap into it and use its unlimited resources. Now that is great!

Unfortunately, when we all started school from age 5 we were programmed out of using this ability and were taught the rote-memory system of learning which uses reading as its vehicle.

Reading uses a short-term memory system and we quickly forget almost everything that we were taught and had to learn by repeatedly revising or ‘cramming’ to absorb it all. Not good… It is a huge waste of time.

There is a Silver Lining – The keys to unlimited success are yours

But don’t worry, there is a long-term memory system out now that can reconnect you to those eidetic abilities that you lost as a child along with allows you to absorb extreme amounts of information at lightning quick speeds!

The method is called Mental Photography, also known as ZOXing. It has been around for over 35 years, and has helped thousands of people tap into their innate, photographic memory and become eidetickers again as well as ZOXers!

Years of independent scientific research; supports the existence of your eidetic memory and proves that anyone can learn at astounding speeds accompanied with a memory that can recall and retain all needed information at will, just like those Hollywood characters I mentioned earlier!

Richard Welch, the Father of Mental Photography said, “The brain, the brain, the brain. The more we learn about the brain, the more we realize how little we really know about it.” His statement is still correct today. If scientists knew everything there is to know about the brain, then there would be no question whether the photographic memory exists; or if it is myth, legend, fact or fiction.

For scientists to subscribe to scientific principle, and then proclaim the photographic memory does not exist is professional heresy. Or does the existence of the photographic memory fill them with so much fear; they dare to cross the line of professional integrity.

Self-Developmentitus – Losing Your Effectiveness?

Developmentitus affecting you?

Self-Developmentitus – prevent yourself from suffering.

Self-Developmentitus is Affecting your Life

Some people can lose their effectiveness (Developmentitus) while pursuing the “better me” within. Determine what you want in life. Difficulties and obstacles will make it more challenging, but should not deter you from pursuing your goals or losing your effectiveness.
We are here to help you. ZOX Pro Training and Brain Management will help you over obstacles so that you may ultimately get what you want in life. Remember this: ZOX Pro supports people who are pursuing their passion and those who are pursuing their passion, their destiny and more.

Our training is easy used to learn and supports any other training or mind discipline. It is a unique training system designed to interact with other trainings. It is not complex or hidden. The exercises are clear, making it simple to learn and understand. Mental Photography (ZOXing) is the first way we learn everything. Is is the natural way you was born with.

When you are at work, do you get frustrated because things don’t seem to be happening the way you expect them to (developmentitus)? You see people milling around but nothing gets accomplished. And in the daily hustle and bustle, do you feel that your goals remain just that –procrastinated goals. Then maybe it’s time for you to stand up and do something about it.

Since Mental Photography is the first way we learn everything via the eidetic memory (commonly known as the photographic memory), it is the basis of all learning; the benchmark.  So no mater what it is you want to learn, if you want to learn it better and easier, use Mental Photography. Mental Photography is the natural way to learn.

An issue that frequently inhibits the ability for people to learn is people using more than one training at the same time while learning another. I realize that many people would find a way to justify that course of action.  Allow me to provide you a scenario:

Scenario 1: A person is taking a speed reading course, a mega-speed reading course, and is asking about doing Mental Photography at the same time. I am NOT going to recommend that action. Here is why:

a.    The person cannot tell where there results are coming from.  This creates confusion to what is working and what is not.

b.    The person may have conflicting information coming from different trainings.  Again, this only adds to the confusion.

c.    ZOX Pro Training (Mental Photography) in this case is definitely a superior product because of the level of training the person receives.  Remember, ZOX Pro Training is actually a “mental discipline” – developmentitus. We approach things very differently with our trainings.  We help people make huge gains by helping them change the way they perceive how learning works, or in some cases how it doesn’t work.

You must also remember that good leaders are continually working and studying to improve their natural skills (Mental Photography). This takes a commitment to constantly improve in whatever endeavor a person chooses.

Leadership starts with you. The best way to develop leadership (self-developmentitus) qualities is to apply it to your own life. As an adage goes “action speaks louder than words.” Leaders are always in the limelight. Keep in mind that your credibility as a leader depends much on your actions: your interaction with your family, friends, and co-workers; your way of managing your personal and organizational responsibilities; and even the way you talk with the newspaper vendor across the street. Repeated actions become habits. Habits in turn form a person’s character.

Lose Your Effectiveness (Developmentitus) – Multiple Trainings Cause Confusion

This can easily confuse people that are involved with other trainings that teach things differently than what we teach you.  We want everyone to have results.  We have geared ZOX Pro Training to develop you, as well as our other trainings, for results.  You may be inhibiting your results by mixed signals from other trainings.  If this is happening to you, don’t panic.  Again, after you learn our methods, you can apply ZOX Pro Training to all the other trainings afterwards, making them easier than ever.

Scenario 2: You have a vocabulary builder, a memory enhancer, speed reading, a meditation schedule, lists of affirmations stuck up everywhere you look, a daily organizer that is meant to keep track of it all (but you never have time to look at it). And so on, and so on…

All these techniques may be good and work as separate devices. But when you put them all together, you find that your life becomes so cluttered, you cannot tell what, if anything, is happening to create that positive development  in life you want.

People seem to have the misconception that only a select few are able to unleash a steady flow of creative genius. That is not true at all. The fact is, creativity is very much like a muscle that needs to be exercised in order to consistently give out great results. If you don’t practice harnessing creative thinking, this skill will very much atrophy into nonexistence. But keep working and this focused action (Photographic Memory) will soon come to you in a snap.

Developmentitus

ZOX Pro – Developmentitus

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Stop doing other trainings while you are learning ZOX Pro Training.  This will give you the best opportunity to really FOCUS on one training instead of the many things that waste your time, confuse you, and inhibit your results causing developmentitus.

When you create results from your focused action, you will easily see where they have come from – without question.

KEEP IN MIND – Developmentitus – Mind Discipline

Since ZOX Pro Training is a mind discipline, it will affect ALL areas of your life.  So don’t limit yourself by only looking for results in the information area.  There are so many other areas of life you need to work on.  Look for success in family, relationships, health, wealth, work, prestige, decreasing stress, vocabulary and languages, creativity, decision making, athletic ability and sports, just to point out a few.

So, if you want to prevent yourself from suffering Self-Developmentitus, here is what to do:  (WARNING: Joke Ahead) Take 2 ZOX Pro Trainings, give one to a friend, and DON’T call me in the morning.  (You should be too busy making a great life for yourself.)

Developmentitus – “All that is valuable in human society depends upon the opportunity for development accorded the individual”. Albert Einstein

Your Children are Teaching you – They are Genius

Your Children are Teaching you – They are Genius!

Photographic Memory – Secrets to Success.

The Photographic Memory is also known as the ‘Eidetic Memory’.

Photographic memory; what is it? You walk around everyday with a big secret setting on you shoulders and you don’t even know that you have access to your own personal natural photographic memory that you were born with. Look to your children. They will show you the way.

The infant brain develops rapidly from the earliest moments of life. Learning can and does begin as early as prenatal, while the child is still in the womb.

Experts say to read to your child as soon as they are born for quality stimulation. Understanding the extraordinary natural learning abilities infants possess. As a child ages (from 0-12 months) they begin to learn. The more stimulation, the more learning capacity the child will have.

Some people carry over the photographic memory into adulthood. If you are not one of these people, why didn’t you carry it over as an adult too?

Stand by to be SHOCKED!

The answer to this is reading!

We were all born with a photographic memory. We never lose it. We have just lost the ability to USE it. Actually, more correctly, we’ve misplaced the access to it.

You learned phenomenal things as a small child — languages, social skills, etc. THEN, you went to school to learn a superior way to learn, or so we are led to believe. Statistics show that once we enter school, based on the rote – memory system of learning, learning slows down from that point on.

So, what is the primary thing that changed? You learned how to read! By learning how to read, no matter how ineffective it may be for you, you were force fed to learn it, or you were ostracized. A renegade! Some of those renegades are the same people that have carried over their photographic memory as an adult.

You see, the mechanics to learn to read, such as entrained tunnel vision, directly oppose your natural ability to access and utilize the photographic memory. By learning reading, a learned brain function, you gave up access to your natural brain function of the photographic memory.

Solution: You can learn how to access your natural photographic memory again by learning Mental Photography. What’s even more amazing is that while you are learning how to access your photographic memory, you start to see many other things start happening from exercising your brain this way.

You wonder why your children are genius and you are not? Now you know!

You can have a photographic memory too.

Leave Your Poverty Mindset At The Door, With Brain Management

The quote “Success is NOT gauged on what you have gained, but by what you have given up” is limited. In the Law of Attraction, if you think you have given up (or lost) something along the way, you automatically attract whatever you were unfortunate (or fortunate) enough to lose back into your life.  This includes a poverty mindset.

In understanding this, you can change how you view what you have lost (or given up) to ensure that you don’t re-attract it back into your life.  One way you can do this, is to focus on being true to yourself, committed, resourceful, and passionate on your path of success.  Isn’t it better to view those things you have given up, as making room for these values / attributes in your life?  Certainly, leaving a poverty mindset behind and making room to be resourceful in generating more income is a great thing.

Like Losing an Old Friend…

Leaving a poverty consciousness behind is difficult; the subconscious mind is protecting you by keeping that poverty consciousness in place and until you address it, you will continually sabotage yourself in any effort to change your life.

Let’s think of the poverty mindset as an Old Friend that has been around forever. It is something you can rely on even though this friend brought their problems with them. This friend (mindset) is something you are comfortable with, and you have likely taken great pains to protect it against criticism and made excuses for it.  Leaving this mindset behind feels like you are tossing that old friend onto the rubbish heap and not looking back.

Leaving our old friend behind can cause a lot of pain – but does it really have to be? If what you’re leaving behind allows you to make room for newer, more positive attributes – isn’t that a good thing?

Be Dedicated, Be Committed – Persevere

To truly leave your ‘unwanted’ baggage behind, you need to be dedicated, committed and simply persevere until you achieve what you are seeking.

Most of us understand what dedication and commitment mean and that the two are inextricably linked with each other however, we are often confused by what perseverance actually is.  Perseverance is ‘sticking power’ – how long you stick at something, simply keep plugging away until you achieve your objective.

Perseverance is different for every one – it is based on your own values. How long you stick to your guns and decide what to give up, is completely up to you.

Perseverance can sometimes be called “The Fight”.

When you are engaged in “The Fight”, there could actually be no outcome – no winner, no loser. However, you should embrace all of the lessons you experience and become the better for them.  This is where Brain Management comes into play – you can use these techniques to help you embed the lessons from your experiences in your subconscious.

Remember – when you eat an elephant, you eat it bite by bite… this is just what I mean by perseverance.

The Use of Brain Management through Mental Photography

Brain Management

Brain Management is a training of the brain that will create balance and guide you in reaching your full potential. It makes your brain super-excited on all levels of consciousness, simultaneously. By using Mental Photography as the first step, it will create a very advanced Whole Brain Learning and Hemispheric Balancing.

The Objective

The objective is for you to find a greater reality for yourself and venture beyond your limitations to reach new goals. If you learn to do this in one way, you can then use that success to allow yourself to be successful in all other directions.

Most people find that they really don’t want to be where they are in life. Do you feel as unfulfilled as that? Then you need to work through your challenges, remove their limitations, and enhance your life in a positive way. Recognizing your need is often your first big challenge.

TRUE Story:

One of my clients (actually, this happens to a lot of my clients) went back to her life after receiving training from me that would strengthen her brain, clear the cobwebs, allow her to focus on what she truly wanted in life, and the techniques to make it come into her reality.

Within a week she rang me up. She was struggling under the weight of how quickly EVERYTHING was coming into her reality. All types of wonderful things. Everything that she truly wanted to have DID happen (It’s a nice problem to have). But she felt guilty! Guilt was now her burden. She actually felt that she was not worthy to receive what was handed to her on a gold platter.

We talked about what she wanted to achieve and to deal with her new problem. We decided that her best remedy would be that she could turn the flow on or off — like a faucet (good analogy). So, we came up with a suitable way to moderate the flow of great things happening to her.

After she plugged in her remedy using Brain Management skills, she felt much more in control. If things got too hectic, she would just turn it off until she was ready for the next batch of good things to happen to her. Here is where Mental Photography techniques come into play, it creates a very strong relationship between the conscious and the subconscious – i.e., it is a transfer of concentrated information to the long term memory which utilizes eidetic, or photographic, memory.

Enhance your creativity

Like watching pianists doing their solos watched by thousands audience, or perhaps millions by television. The things that are real to the pianists are the piano, themselves and the flow of music – nothing else in the world matters; they are totally locked in.

Emotions overflow within the pianist.

Those emotions too, flow with the music to the audience with such beautiful intensity.
Whenever you experience this type of thing, it doesn’t only happen to you, it also influences all of those around you in a positive way too.

EVERYONE benefits!

By learning music (or other skills) through Richard Welch Mental Photography and Whole Brain Management techniques, a person can take their musical talents (or any other talent) to new levels. The information is treated and converted like a language and stored in the subconscious.
